Weekly Planning – How to Master It

By September 15, 2020Uncategorized

Managing a full blown life to live is difficult. No ifs ands or buts about it. This blunt fact is the reason that so many individuals are overwhelmed and stressed out each day. There are plenty of resources to help individuals cope with these feelings, but what if you could just tackle the root of the problem? So many individuals are constantly overwhelmed because they often feel like they are behind, backed up, overdue, and cannot seem to reel all of their responsibilities in. Getting on top of and in front of all of these responsibilities so that they are anticipated and manageable by the time they come up is key to tapering down stress, and it all comes down to getting organized.

So where do you start? We recommend the office aisle in Target, because who doesn’t love Target, but most anywhere that sells planners will do the trick. Pick up a planner and get down to business. Identify your responsibilities one by one based on the realm of your life that it occupies. Begin with work responsibilities, write out all the meetings you have, the deadlines you need to meet, and even goals you have to accomplish for each day. Once you’ve included all of your work tasks in your planner, focus on personal planning. Write in any events you plan to attend that week, as well as any personal goals you have such as hitting the gym, focusing on meditation, or meal prepping for the week. Color coordination is always encouraged.

As you plan your week be cognizant of how much you are loading onto your plate. If you finish your weekly plan and there are no areas for free time, consider offloading some of your responsibilities. Whether you indicate free time in your planner or not, it is crucial to carve out that time for you to have nothing to focus on and reset.

Planning out your week every single week can seem to be a daunting task at first, but with practice, it will become second nature, and you will find yourself planning out further and further, so that you are able to write out projects very far down the line. This ability to anticipate things before and as they come is a fantastic skill to have that will help many any stressful emotions or feelings of being overwhelmed. This new and improved headspace will allow you to maximize your productivity in both your work life and personal life.
